992 (2019-)

Technical data
The Porsche 992 is the eighth and current generation of the Porsche 911 sports car, introduced in November 2018. It features rack and pinion steering, a MacPherson strut front suspension, and a rear multi-link suspension. The 992's design includes wide rear-wheel arches on all models (a feature previously limited to high-performance variants), with 20-inch wheels in the front and 21-inch wheels in the rear. Compared to its predecessor, the 992 is 45 mm (1.8 in) wider and incorporates aluminum body panels. It also has a new rear bumper with larger exhaust tips and a front design that modernizes the look of early 911 models. The 992 includes electrical pop-out door handles, a retractable rear spoiler (on specific models), LED headlights, and a full-length rear light bar. Inside, the dashboard design is more linear, reminiscent of the classic 911, and features two 7-inch digital displays alongside an analog tachometer. Standard equipment includes a 10.9-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) display with a navigation system, an 8-speed PDK transmission, and driver-assistance systems like collision detection with braking intervention. The 992 introduces a Wet Mode feature, which uses acoustic sensors in the wheel wells to detect wet pavement, adjusting stability control, rear wing position, and gearbox responsiveness to maintain stability. Optional equipment includes adaptive cruise control, night vision, and sports suspension that lowers the car by 10 mm (0.4 in). The Sport Chrono package, available on all models, includes an overboost function that enhances performance for 20 seconds, reducing the 0–100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time by 0.2 seconds. The engines feature piezo injection, a revised intake system, and, in some markets under Euro-6 regulations, engine particulate filters. Initially, the only available transmission was an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. However, a 7-speed manual and a 6-speed manual are now also available. The 7-speed manual is offered exclusively on the GTS models, while the 6-speed manual is available on the GT3 models. Both manual transmission options come standard with the Sport Chrono Package.
