The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) produced by the German manufacturer Porsche since February 2014. It is the smallest SUV in Porsche's lineup, positioned below the Cayenne. The name "Macan" is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger. The production version was unveiled in 2013, and European sales began in spring 2014. The Macan shares its platform and wheelbase with the first-generation Audi Q5 (2008–2017). Although based on the Audi, its engine, transfer case, suspension tuning, and both interior and exterior design are unique to the Macan. It is also slightly larger than the Q5, being 1.7 inches (43 mm) longer and 1.4 inches (36 mm) wider. Upon its launch, three V6 models were available: the 3.0-liter Macan S with 340 PS (250 kW; 335 hp), the 3.6-liter Macan Turbo with 400 PS (294 kW; 395 bhp), and a 3.0-liter Diesel with 258 PS (190 kW; 254 hp) and CO2 emissions of 159 g/km. The Macan S and Macan Turbo can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) in 5.2 and 4.6 seconds, respectively, with a 0.2-second improvement when using Launch Control, part of the optional "Sport Chrono" package. In October 2015, Porsche introduced the Macan GTS, positioned between the Macan S and Macan Turbo. Later, Porsche released a base Macan for select Asian markets and the UK, powered by a reworked 2.0-liter inline-four EA888 Gen 3 engine from Volkswagen Group, making it the first four-cylinder Porsche since the 968. This engine was offered globally for the 2017 model year. All Macan models feature a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, with optional features including air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The facelifted 2019 Macan began production in August 2018. It features an overhauled chassis, standard gasoline particulate filter, new front and rear fascia with standard LED headlights and taillights, new exterior colors, wheel designs, and a redesigned interior with a 10.9-inch touchscreen display for Porsche Communication Management and Connect Plus with Porsche Offroad Precision App. Optional features include active suspension management, air suspension, torque vectoring, the Sport Chrono package with Launch Control, and various park and traffic assistance systems.
